The Volunteers for Harmonium program’s mission is to build a responsible and responsive partner program that fosters lasting relationships through volunteerism.

Volunteers for Harmonium is a service program to encourage volunteerism and recruit participants from the San Diego community for the purpose of supporting and enriching the programs and services provided by Harmonium. 

Our children’s programs need individual volunteers to help with tutoring, mentoring, program & event coordination and conducting specialized classes. We also encourage youth and adult groups to volunteer while having a great time working together. Some of the projects that groups have completed in the past included assembling, building, or painting Harmonium equipment, completing building upgrades, beautification and landscape projects for our child care centers and Epicentre. 

The time and talent that volunteers provide is a highly recognized and a valuable asset for Harmonium. Allow us to help you find a project that suits you or your group. 

Become a Volunteer for Harmonium

Individuals volunteering on a short or long-term basis must first fill out an application. Depending on the location assignment and job responsibilities, in addition to reference checking, the screening process could also include a criminal background check, TB test, drug test and a driving record check. Once the application process is complete a volunteer orientation followed by job training will be conducted.

Youth volunteer opportunities are available at our Epicentre/San Diego Regional Teen Center in Mira Mesa. In an effort to encourage youth to serve as leaders, we continue to cultivate youth development opportunities that provide youth with high school credits, participation in youth advisory groups such as the Music Venue Council, Teen Advisory Council, community events and youth/professional mentorship.

Groups of Volunteers from the business community, colleges & universities, community service clubs, youth organizations, or other outreach groups are welcome to submit a volunteer project request. These projects are usually one-day events and do not require individual applications, but rather a group agreement with liability waivers for participating volunteers.
